There’s no such thing as an easy project, but this one is quite challenging. I’m trying to get a far more accurate idea of the amount of potential a nanoparticle has for hitting a biological target, using a method that has never been used for nanoparticles before. There’s a lot of work to do in making the experiment work, and then understanding the results we get.
I’ve been working on this particular project for a year now, and working on my PhD for 3 years. In general, a person in Ireland will do a PhD for 3-4 years (most often 4), and over the course of it they may do several projects, or progress a single project many steps. I’m due to finish in January so I’ve to work extra hard to finish up on time!
