• Question: are food companies still using horse meat?

      Don’t know in Ireland, but in France we’re still eating horse meat! But I think you’re referring to food labeled as beef and containing horse meat instead. It’s illegal of course to mislead customers, but it was already illegal a couple of years ago and that didn’t stop it from happening. One can only hope that the scandal has forced more control, but who knows what the next scandal is going to be? 🙁

      As Michel says who knows? The industries were not supposed to use it when they were doing it a few years ago. However I would say they are more wary now that they have been caught…

      Hopefully not unless they’re selling it as horse meat! While there may be some places trying to sneak in horse (or other) meat in place of beef, hopefully the regulators have much tighter rules and testing in place to catch them after the events of the last few years.
